Le 9 octobre, à la mairie du 20e, Ricardo Palma, pour l’ADVR, est venu présenter son itinéraire de guérilléro opposant à la dictature de Pinochet. Membre du « Front patriotique Manuel Rodriguez » (FPMR) qui a organisé un attentat contre Pinochet, qui a abattu l’idéologue du régime, auteur de la constitution de la dictature, Ricardo Palma, condamné à la prison à vie en 1991, s’est évadé de façon spectaculaire en 1996 avec trois de ses camarades. Après 22 ans de clandestinité au Mexique, il vient d’obtenir l’asile politique en France en janvier de cette année. Avant cette décision qui le met à l’abri, plusieurs demandes d’extradition ont été formulées par le Chili où lois répressives de la dictature restent en vigueur, selon la volonté de Pinochet, condition imposée pour qu’il accepte de quitter le pouvoir en 1990.

La conférence et le livre de Ricardo, « Une étreinte du vent », nous montrent que la dictature n’est jamais loin et que la résistance est une nécessité de toujours.

À la différence des résistants de la Seconde Guerre mondiale qui, en France, après le rétablissement de la République et de la démocratie ont été considérés comme des héros, on peut constater tristement qu’il n’en est pas de même au Chili et que les résistants à la dictature sont toujours considérés comme des parias.

Nous souhaitons à Ricardo Palma de trouver enfin en France la paix et la reconnaissance de la justesse de son combat.
