Le Comité Parisien de Libération s’incline avec un grand respect et un profond chagrin devant la
dépouille de Daniel Cordier, décédé le 20 novembre. Compagnon de la Libération, Officier de la
France libre, il sera le secrétaire de jean Moulin, unificateur de la résistance intérieure et fondateur
du Conseil National de la Résistance. Du tout premier jour du combat libérateur et jusqu’à son
dernier souffle, Daniel Cordier demeurera le symbole de l’engagement et de l’honneur de la
Résistance française, de la fusion de la France Libre et de la Résistance intérieure.

D’autres que nous diront la singularité du parcours de ce jeune homme, antisémite assumé et
admirateur de Pétain dont il rejettera immédiatement la trahison et au prix d’une douloureuse
réflexion personnelle le fera s’engager dans la lutte pour le retour de la démocratie et la
République. Il deviendra un rouage décisif du combat contre l’ennemi nazi, la collaboration et le
régime de Vichy.

Le Comité Parisien de la Libération, coordinateur de la Journée Nationale de la Résistance à Paris ,
gardera précieusement le souvenir de la participation de Daniel Cordier à la cérémonie du 27 mai
2018, rue du Four, hommage à la première réunion du CNR, en 1943. Entouré d’élèves d’écoles
parisiennes, et de lycéen-ne-s, Ce jour, il sut, malgré son grand âge, leur faire partager les leçons
toujours d’actualité de son engagement indéfectiblement républicain. Ce dialogue aussi amical
qu’animé lui avait aussi permis de mettre au premier plan l’exigence culturelle qu’il considérait
comme un des piliers de notre démocratie.

Le CPL appelle à lire et faire lire les ouvrages de Daniel Cordier, écrivain et historien de la
Résistance française et de l’engagement humaniste universel. C’est le moyen le plus fécond de
poursuivre son combat et de l’accompagner dans son éternité.
