XE2E3048 XE2E3047Le 21 novembre 2018, une plaque commémorative a été inaugurée par la maire de Paris Anne Hidalgo sur l’immeuble où habitait Robert Chambeiron.
La cérémonie a été ouverte par un adjoint à la maire du 16e arrondissement rappelant le rôle de Robert Chambeiron aux côtés de Jean Moulin et au CNR. Marie-Françoise Bechtel, ancienne députée de l’Aisne et vice-présidente de la Commission des lois, auteur d’un livre d’entretiens avec Robert Chambeiron ( Robert Chambeiron résistant, ed. Fayard) et amie de ce dernier a évoqué la fidélité sans faille de Robert Chambeiron aux valeurs de la Résistance qu’il avait contribué à créer et sa passion pour sa ville, Paris qu’il avait contribué à libérer.
La mairie de Paris, Anne Hidalgo, a ensuite, dans une allocution chaleureuse, fait part de sa gratitude pour l’action résistante de Robert Chambeiron avant de procéder au dévoilement de la plaque.
L’ADVR est heureuse et fière d’être née de la dernière action militante de Robert Chambeiron.

 » Madame la maire de Paris, M. le représentant du Préfet de police, M. le maire adjoint représentant le maire du 16° arrondissement, Mesdames et Mmes et Mrs les élus et représentant les associations, membres de la famille, proches et amis de Robert Chambeiron, Chère Danièle,
Je sais que vous partagez tous l’émotion avec laquelle je viens ici dire combien nous touche le geste par lequel, Madame la Maire, vous honorez comme vous le faites ici la mémoire de Robert Chambeiron.
Mon intervention ne retracera pas le parcours politique de Robert comme ce sera fait ensuite -et a déjà été abordé ; je donnerai plutôt la note personnelle au nom de ceux qui l’ont bien connu.
L’apposition d’une plaque a quelque chose de paradoxal lorsque le souvenir du disparu est encore si vivant. D’une certaine façon c’est figer en un lieu par définition immobile ce qui fut une histoire personnelle par définition mobile et vivante . Mobile et vivant : nous sommes nombreux ici à savoir combien ces derniers qualificatifs s’appliquent à Robert. Car la vie de Robert , tout entière imprégnée par l’action de la Résistance puis par la volonté d’en faire vivre l’ esprit, a été celle d’un militant infatigablement attaché à défendre les causes auxquelles il croyait, puis ou simultanément d’élu du peuple et pour finir de député européen. Pour finir disais-je : cela n’est pas tout à fait exact car quasiment jusqu’à sa mort Robert fut infatigablement actif. N’avait-il pas créé peu avant d’être frappé par la maladie l’ADVR – l’association pour la défense des valeurs de la Résistance- dont je salue ici le président, afin de s’assurer du plein respect des valeurs dont toute sa vie il fut l’acteur et le témoin exigeant, refusant de céder quoi que ce soit à la haute idée qu’il se faisait de ces mêmes valeurs ?
Pourtant, cette intrication de l’espace et du temps telle que nous la vivons aujourd’hui n’a rien d’une symbolique figée. Elle manifeste au contraire une dimension essentielle qui marqua la vie de Robert dont le destin devait être  indissolublement lié à celui d’une ville, Paris, Paris espace politique ou gronda si souvent un peuple épris de liberté et l’égalité, Paris que la famille de son père habitait depuis de nombreuses générations -fait auquel, me disait récemment Danièle, il était particulièrement attaché- , Paris enfin où il vécut le plus fort, le plus intense épisode de sa vie non pas dans le confort que suggère l’immeuble devant lequel nous sommes aujourd’hui et où Robert vécut depuis les années 50 mais dans une errance qui avait, il le disait, laissé des traces ineffaçables, celle de la clandestinité : résistant dès 40, Robert devint clandestin en 42. Un Paris où Robert et ses compagnons, redoutant les concierges , redoutant les immeubles qui ne disposaient pas d’une double issue, déménageait tous les deux ou trois jours avec les quelques affaires indispensables. Ecoutons ce qu’il en disait, je le cite : «  le risque zéro n’existait pas. L a rue était un danger permanent . Dans le métro, en changeant de ligne, on risquait de se retrouver bouclé avec des Allemands à chaque bout du couloir ». Pour ceux qui n ’ont pas vécu cette période il n’est pas certes pas imaginable de concevoir la ville comme le vaste piège qu’il décrivait ainsi. » Le prix de ce que nos lois républicaines nomment la « liberté d’aller et venir » , c’est à ce combat que nous le devons aujourd’hui.
Les immeubles de Paris mais aussi donc, les rues. Ainsi, disait-il il recherchait et privilégiait pour ses rv clandestins les rues sans intersection lui permettant en se situant à un bout de la voie de vérifier si la personne qu’il devait rencontrer était ou non suivie.
Et c’est ainsi finalement que la plaque aujourd’hui apposée sur l’immeuble où il devait finir sa vie entouré par Danièle de tant de soins et d’ attention inscrit finalement sa mémoire dans la ville, celle même dont il aimait le peuple -auquel il appartenait- et pour laquelle il se sera tant battu. Cette plaque, madame la Maire, est et restera le témoignage concret de notre gratitude à tous envers ce combat. Puisse cette gratitude rester aussi vivante, pour le passant comme pour nous ici rassemblés, que Robert le fut quasiment jusqu’à son dernier jour. »
