Monique Heddebaut est historienne, autrice de nombreux ouvrages en particulier sur la répression dont furent victimes les Tziganes pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Elle est membre de la commission historique du Nord et  directrice de publications. Elle collabore avec le musée de Malines pour la question tzigane.  Elle participe à de nombreux colloques nationaux et internationaux sur les déportations raciales et la barbarie. Son dernier ouvrage : « Des Tziganes vers Auschwitz, le convoi Z du 15 février 1944 » est publié chez Tirésias–Michel Reynaud.

Dessinateur de presse et de BD, Kkrist Mirror est Grand prix de la Ville de Paris en 1982, Prix de la Vocation de l’Institut Pasteur, Mention du prix œcuménique au festival international de la BD d’Angoulême en 2017, membre de la délégation interministérielle d’hommage aux nomades internés en France (1940-1946) qui aboutit à la reconnaissance de la responsabilité de l’État français dans l’;internement arbitraire des Tziganes.
Auteur de nombreuses bandes dessinées sur Les Tziganes.
