Shelomo Selinger est déporté en 1942, à l’âge de 14 ans. Il connaît neuf camps successifs où il perd son père, sa mère et deux sœurs.  Après sa libération, sauvé par un médecin russe qui le retrouve quasi mort sur un tas de cadavres, il reste amnésique pendant sept ans. Après un séjour en Israël, il vient à Paris étudier la sculpture aux Beaux-Arts et se spécialise dans la sculpture des blocs de granite. Ses oeuvres ornent de nombreux musées, d’Israël à New York, et c’est lui qui est choisi pour réaliser le mémorial du camp de Drancy. Miguel Vallcillo Mata nous offre ici un aperçu de l’œuvre de ce grand artiste humaniste bien qu’encore imprégné, à 94 ans, par la terrible expérience de la déportation.
