Mardi 4 décembre 2018, en partenariat avec le SNES, nous sommes allés visiter le Cercil (centre d’études et de recherches sur les camps d’internement du Loiret). Ce fut une journée riche d’informations mais aussi d’émotion.
Le matin un car nous attendait pour emmener notre groupe de 25personnes sur le site du camp de Pithiviers. Un mémorial marque l’entrée du camp, les bâtiments, à l’exception de l’infirmerie ont disparu et le lieu est aujourd’hui occupé par des logements sociaux. Mais la gare où sont passés les internés est toujours là. Elle doit être réhabilitée et transformée en Mémorial. Nathalie Grenon, directrice du Cercil nous a guidés sur ces lieux chargés de mémoire dont le cadre général a peu changé. Nous avons pu ainsi prendre conscience dut ravail de recherche extraordinaire effectué par le Cercil pour sortir de l’oubli ce lieu et cet épisode criminel de notre histoire. Contrairement àce que l’on pense souvent, la population de Pithiviers a été largement solidaire des internés, en aidant leurs familles, mais aussi en aidant les internés à s’échapper. 7OO évasions ont été recensées, surtout au début, lorsque les victimes de la « rafle du billet vert » de mai 1941, des hommes, juifs étrangers, travaillaient parfois à l’extérieur du camp. Un gros travail a également été mené sur les pages les plus horribles de l’histoire du camp, notamment quand les gendarmes français ont séparé à coups de crosses les femmes de leurs enfants, et lorsque,après la déportation des femmes, les enfants de tous âges ont été livrés à eux-mêmes, y compris les bébés. La petite Aline, âgée de trois ans, dont le Cercil a fait son symbole, fut de ceux-là. Puis les enfants du camp furent déportés à leur tour et aucun ne revint.
L’après-midi c’est la fondatrice et présidente du Cercil, Hélène Mouchard-Zay, fille de Jean Zay, ministre de l’Education nationale et des Beaux-Arts du Front populaire, assassiné par la Milice de Vichy en juin 1944, qui nous fit visiter le Musée-mémorial installé à Orléans.Outre un centre de recherches le Cercil est aussi un musée riche de témoignages vidéos, photographiques, documents divers, très argumentés et analysés. Notre seul regret est d’avoir manqué de temps pour approfondir notre visite car le train de Paris nous attendait!Beaucoup d’entre nous se sont promis de revenir.
